The Association for Women in Communications Calls
for 2005 Clarion Awards Entries
The Association for Women in Communications is calling for entries for the 33rd Annual Clarion Awards competition. The Clarion Awards is a renowned competition recognizing outstanding achievement in all communications fields. The program honors excellence in advertising, public relations, marketing, print journalism, online journalism, graphic design, photography, books, CD-ROM's, and broadcasting. The Wall Street Journal, The Kansas City Star, Pittsburg Post Gazette, Newsweek, Philadelphia Magazine, Harvard Medical Alumni Bulletin, Glamour, NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw, and WETA’s Flashpoints USA with Bryant Gumbel and Gwen Ifill were just a few of the 2004 Clarion Awards winners.
This year’s Clarion Awards competition will again include the International Crystal Clarion Award. This award will honor the individual or organization that has submitted the most winning entries. The 2004 winner was The Washington Post Company, winner of six Clarions presented to Newsweek (5) and Newsweek.com (1). The finalist in the competition was Dow Jones & Company, parent company of The Wall Street Journal, winner of four Clarions. For a complete list of Clarion Award winners.
Entries are judged against the work of their peers in size and budget to ensure that everyone, from the largest ad agency to the smallest newspaper, is fairly considered. More than half of an entry must have been published, broadcast or implemented between January 1 and December 31, 2004. Discounted entry fees are available for multiple entries.
For detailed instructions and entry information. A "Call for Entries" brochure is available by e-mail at clarion@womcom.org, or by calling The Association for Women in Communications at 703-370-7433.
This year's Clarion Awards will be presented at the association's 2005 Annual Professional Conference to be held October 20-22, 2005, at the Holiday Inn in Lubbock, Texas. Winning entries will be displayed during the conference, and Clarion recipients will be announced at the gala Matrix/Clarion Awards Dinner.
