Ernst & Young Receives Ruth Weyand Award
Presented by The Association for Women in Communications
The Association for Women in Communications honors Ernst & Young with the association's Ruth Weyand Award. The award will be presented during the association’s Annual Professional Conference held October 6-9, 2004, at the Adams Mark Hotel, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Ruth Weyand Award, named in honor of a labor attorney who worked tirelessly for women's rights in the workplace, recognizes companies with forward-thinking policies toward women and minorities.
Ernst & Young receives the award this year in recognition of the flexibility the company provides all its people, as well as policies and programs that help women develop and advance. In 2003, E&Y was named one of “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers” by Working Mother magazine for the sixth consecutive year. Ernst & Young’s Americas Vice Chair of People Jim Freer said, "We realize that it is not just working mothers who are looking for flexibility, so we strive to make Ernst & Young a place where all of our people can have challenging careers, while achieving their personal goals and having fulfilling lives."
Previous winners of the award include The Seattle Times, SAS Institute, Deloitte & Touche, Working Woman Network, Discovery Communications, Inc. and Business Wire.
