The Association for Women in Communications Announces 2004 Clarion Awards Competition

Deadline: Postmarked April 22, 2004

The Association for Women in Communications is calling for entries for the 32nd Annual Clarion Awards competition. The Clarion Awards is a renowned competition recognizing outstanding achievement in all communications fields. The program honors excellence in advertising, public relations, marketing, print journalism, on-line journalism, graphic design, photography, books, CD-ROM's, and broadcasting. Dateline NBC, Washington Post Co., Dome Communications, Inc of Chicago, Accenture, Newsweek, Wall Street Journal, Glamour, and USA Today were just a few of the 2003 Clarion Awards winners.

This year’s Clarion Awards competition will again include the International Crystal Clarion Award. This award will honor the individual or organization that has submitted the most winning entries. Winning a total of six Clarion awards, the 2003 recipient was General Electric, parent company of Dateline NBC, MSNBC, and NBC 5-KXAS-TV, Ft. Worth, Texas.

Entries are judged against the work of their peers in size and budget to ensure that everyone, from the largest ad agency to the smallest newspaper, is fairly considered. More than half of an entry must have been published, broadcast or implemented between January 1 and December 31, 2003. Discounted entry fees are available for multiple entries.

For detailed instructions and entry information, please refer to the website: www.womcom.org/clarion/index.html. A "Call for Entries" brochure is available by e-mail at Clarion@womcom.org, by fax @ 410/544-4640, or by calling The Association for Women in Communications at 410/544-7442.

This year's Clarion Awards will be presented at the association's 2004 Annual Professional Conference to be held October 6-9, 2004 at the Adams Mark Hotel in Charlotte, NC. Winning entries will be displayed during the conference, and Clarion recipients will be announced at the gala Matrix/Clarion Awards Dinner, October 8, 2004.
