The Association for Women in Communications Names Amy Carr to 2004 National Board of Directors
Austin Chapter Member Brings Experience to National Board
The Association for Women in Communications (AWC) welcomes Amy T. Carr, who manages the marketing efforts for the Center for Child Protection, to its national board of directors. Carr’s term runs through 2006.
“ Carr’s contagious passion for AWC supports our effort to champion the advancement of women across all communication channels,” said AWC Chair Lin Berryman. “Additionally, Carr’s nearly 10-year history at the local chapter level provides an experienced perspective that will contribute to the leadership and success of AWC.”
Carr has been a member of AWC since 1995 and has served in numerous positions on the Austin chapter board, including president, vice president of membership, vice president of professional development and national liaison. She also received a president’s award from the chapter for outstanding membership recruitment in May 2000.
Currently, Carr oversees marketing, media relations and communications strategy for the Center for Child Protection, a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing the trauma of child abuse in Travis County.
Founded in 1909 as Theta Sigma Phi, The Association for Women in Communications is a non-profit organization of more than 4,000 members that champions the advancement of women across all communications disciplines by recognizing excellence, promoting leadership and positioning its members at the forefront of the evolving communications era. The association has members in more than 100 professional and student chapters around the world.
