Recognition of individual and collective achievements is one of the founding principles of AWC.
Every spring, student chapters have the opportunity to nominate their chapter, advisor and/or a
fellow member for their accomplishments throughout the year.
This is your chance to spotlight those deserving national recognition!
All materials submitted must be for the current fiscal year (July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013).
Applications must be received at AWC National Headquarters no later than April 16, 2013.
Winners will be announced in mid-May, and will be honored in a special edition Communiqué newsletter and published on the national website.

The Awards:
Rising Star
First awarded in 1990, the Rising Star is the highest honor The Association for Women in Communications can
bestow on a student member. The Rising Star Award is given on the basis of leadership activities and special
contributions to school and community. Nominees must also demonstrate commitment to a career in the
communications profession. Each nominee must be a member in good standing with national at the time of
nomination, and working toward a degree in communications.
Outstanding Advisor
The faculty advisor forms a critical and necessary link between the students and the national headquarters.
Each in invaluable to the welfare of a healthy chapter.
Advisors guide, mentor and work without compensation, often spending many hours in preparation of programs and
materials for student members.
An outstanding advisor will do all of the above and then some.
Outstanding Chapter
This award is based on high quality, visible programming, fundraising activities or special community involvement.
Chapters will be judged in categories according to their size:
1. Small: 8-20 members
2. Large: 20+ members
