AWC Awards Recognize Exellence

The Clarion Awards is a renowned competition open to all communicators. The awards annually recognize excellence in communications fields. Members receive an entry fee discount. Check out the winners from 2005!

The International Crystal Clarion Awards was created in 2002. It honors the individual/organization submitting the most winning entries in the Clarion competition each year.

The International Matrix Award rewards a communications professional for achieving the highest level of professional excellence. The AWC Board of Directors instituted this award in 1998.

The Headliner Award is presented to an AWC member who has recent national or international accomplishments, as well as consistent communications excellence. Since AWC created the award in 1939, the association has recognized some 200 prominent leaders in communications disciplines.

The Rising Star Award is the highest honor bestowed on a student member and is presented annually on the basis of leadership activities and contributions to school and community. AWC created the award in 1990.

The National Georgina MacDougall Davis Award given in the name of one of the organization's founders, recognizes continuous, distinguished service to AWC goals. The award may not be given more than five times in a decade.

AWC Champion Award is given to a member who has shown prolonged dedication to the organization and its ideals.

The Chapter Recognition Program acknowledges chapters that have demonstrated excellence in areas such as programming and special projects, membership recruitment and retention, advocacy issues, fund-raising, newsletters, and student outreach.

The Chapter Excellence Awards are given to AWC chapters or alliances that meet fourteen of the eighteen listed criteria.

The Chapter Star Awards are selected by their chapters for outstanding contributions to the chapter over the course of the year. These members are exemplary of the high level of service and dedication of AWC local leaders.

The Lifetime Achievement Award rewards longstanding professional accomplishments and service to the association. AWC created the award in 1997.

The Ruth Weyand Award is named in honor of a labor attorney who worked tirelessly for women's rights in the workplace. It recognizes companies with forward-thinking policies toward women and minorities. AWC created the award in 1998.

Chair's First Women in Communications Award recognizes a professional communicator for ground-breaking accomplishments or markedly original contributions within the field.

Hall of Fame Award proudly honors women who have made a significant contribution to the communications field: locally, nationally, regionally or internationally.


Nominations may be submitted at any time by AWC members or chapters. Please submit a letter of nomination, along with any supporting information. Submit nominations to awards@womcom.org.
