The AWC National Tech Committee will address the educational technology needs of members, develop media content to create interactive and lucrative informational and promotional digital media content to help AWC National reach it's membership in a spirit of service to help them stay relevant in their professional positions.

Maria Henneberry, Chair Maria Henneberry, Chair
Maria Henneberry started Contemporary Visuals, a multi-media production company, with her husband, a year after graduating from Illinois State University.  They've expanded their clients to include non-profit agencies and universities to fortune 500 companies.  Henneberry is also certified as an Assoc. Chef and Instructor/Trainer through the Living Light Culinary Arts Institute in Fort Bragg, Calif.

She's an award-winning television journalist and anchor having aired reports all over the U.S. and garnering two AP Best Reporter awards.  Plus, she's hosted and co-hosted shows on several radio stations.  Her on-air credentials include appearances on CBS News and QVC, as well as host of training videos in Eureka Steam Cleaner boxes and for Electrolux in-store displays.   She was chosen Bloomington-Normal Hometown Hero for helping bring an AWC Regional Conference to town generating thousands of dollars for the local economy.  Years later, as President of that AWC chapter, Henneberry received a national award for outstanding progress.  This year, Henneberry received the AWC Headliner Award in September, at the 2008 AWC National Conference.

She's been very involved with charities such as the American Red Cross of the Heartland, Special Olympics-Illinois, and United Way of McLean County.  She was especially proud to be asked to speak before Governor Jim Edgar's Task Force on Women's Issues.  In 2005, Henneberry was a chosen Woman of Distinction in Arts &s; Entertainment through a prestigious annual YWCA event in Bloomington.  She received the AWC Bloomington-Normal's highest honor - Crystal Award.  She was honored to be asked back to her alma mater, Black Hawk College, as Commencement Speaker - the first women to do that.  Henneberry is also an adjunct instructor for ISU journalism classes.


Mary Anthony
Mary Anthony is assistant director for university communications at Trinity University where she handles community relations and special events. Anthony has been a member of AWC since 2000 and is a past recipient of the Chapter Star award. In June 2010, she completed serving two terms as president of the AWC San Antonio chapter and is also an active member of the San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists and the City of Olmos Park Communications Committee. Anthony has served as a Clarion Awards judge for the past five years and is a member of the National Clarion Awards Committee. She has received Clarion Awards in the Fundraising Event, Online Newsletter and Logo categories. Anthony has a B.A. from Texas State University and a M.S. from Texas A&M University-Kingsville.


 



 

Sheila Scarborough Sheila Scarborough
Sheila Scarborough is a writer, speaker and consultant specializing in travel, tourism and the social Web (with a little NHRA drag racing thrown into the mix.)  She writes for three different blogs and is also a certified Navy Master Training Specialist, with many years of experience as an instructor.  Sheila trains and speaks regularly about social media to a variety of audiences, including journalists, public relations and marketing professionals, tourism and economic development experts and Web developers.
She is also the co-founder (with partner Becky McCray) of Tourism Currents, an online learning community and membership site where tourism professionals learn how to use social media tools for their destination marketing.

Tonya Scholz Tonya Scholz
Tonya Scholz is president of kNOw-Aging, Inc, a communications relations consultant group specializing in Branding, Social Networking, PR/Media Relations, Advertising and Social Media for Anti-Aging, Aesthetics and Wellness industry.  She is also the past president and Woman of the Year chair for the Association for Women in Communications (AWC) South Florida Chapter.  In 2009, the national Association for Women in Communications celebrated 100 years of accelerating women communicators' careers, cementing its position as the oldest and most comprehensive professional association in the industry.  Her favorite thing to do is lurk through Facebook's developer forum in the hopes of discovering new applications or widgets that she can ultilize and share with her Facebook friends.  For more info about Tonya Scholz go to www.know-aging.com.  Add her on Facebook:  Facebook.com/knowaging or follow her on Twitter:  twitter.com/knowaging.

Deb Forsten
From 1998-2000, Deb worked for Gateway Computers as a software trainer and has been an adjunct faculty member at Palm Beach State College since 2000. She has served on the National AWC Board of Directors and is a board advisor for the AWC Matrix Foundation. She is an active member of the Executive Women’s Golf Association.




Angela FrizellAngela Frizell
Angela Frizell began her career writing articles for print publications and newsletter, developing business and marketing plans, and writing and researching content for businesses’ online presence. She currently works as the social media strategist for Heligonix, an online integration and marketing company based in Springfield, Mo. She embraced social media at its earliest stage and has developed her techniques to parallel with the fluidity of technology. As an active participant in a wide variety of social media activities, Angela consistently monitors trends, tools and applications in the social media circuit. She is a graduate of Evangel University, a member of PRSA and serves as president elect of the Springfield, Missouri chapter. Angela is a tenured leader for Girl Scouts of America and volunteers tech services for Women in Need of the Ozarks and the Greene County 100 Club. She has been married for over 13 years and enjoys spending time with her husband and three children.
